this week in music. for a year, surfing on the computer and listening to music were things that had to be done separately and things had gone swimmingly. i ended up surfing more efficiently (if that’s even possible) and listening to the intricacies of music, especially classical. it literally took me two months to get accustomed to sounds playing in the background to surfing the web or writing blog entries, even now i hardly play music while reading on the computer; something still doesn’t feel right. this week:

i’ve been looking at buying a dslr so that i don’t spend a large chunk of my money on developing film. however, my e-bay searches go from canon’s lower-end digital line to nikon fm3a’s and plaubel makina 67′s. hopeless i am.

ran into this interesting little thought on ck/ck:

Walking through a Paris museum I didn’t connect straight away that nature morte was the French expression for still life, but when the neurons fired shortly thereafter I was instantly enamored by it. Nature morte, dead nature. Still life might be a more accurate description of what it is, but nature morte sounds so much more macabre and dramatic.

a tribute to tina modotti i made maybe two years ago. i have heaps of black and white film to be developed and tons more to shoot with but no access to a darkroom anymore. oh well.

i’m currently enjoying the beginning of my last summer vacation of my college career. my new piano arrived one week ago and i have been learning how to play it since with the lessons in garageband. i’m debating whether to teach myself or take formal lessons though.

in an attempt to not get into the habit of posting once a month, i’ve decided to do this awesome meme from a long time ago. also, it must be said that muji pens are the best writing utensils known to mankind.

developed a roll last month only to find this. i think my light meter is broken. pity. some of the shots seemed promising!

i don’t know if i want to repair it as this would be the second time i have issues with this camera. it’s going to cost more to keep repairing it than the actual camera cost me. i think this is a good reason to finally buy medium format…

quite possibly my favorite moleskine to date. a rich color. so soft to the touch. (the original one i bought last august for 2010 i lost in early january)

required readings for school but art school is proving to be quite interesting so far…

leisure reading i haven’t gotten to yet, and probably won’t get to until may.
